Why BLW

The difference self-feeding makes

Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) is an approach where babies pick up and eat food on their own. The WHO and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend introducing graspable finger foods from 6 months. In Korea, the 9–12-month infant health-check questionnaire even asks whether a baby can use a cup on their own.

What this calls for isn't an adult's dishware, but tableware sized for a baby's hands and mouth. Easy to grip, made of a material that's safe when dropped, and shaped so babies can learn to eat and drink on their own — self-feeding tableware should meet all three.

Weaning is when babies move on from breast milk or formula to practicing solid food. SpoonTime's self-feeding tableware supports that challenge at the table.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • You can use it from 6 months, when babies start grasping objects — the same time baby-led weaning (BLW) typically begins.

  • Yes. Platinum silicone barely deforms even under high-heat dishwasher cycles, so you can keep it hygienic after every meal.

  • Gently lift one edge of the plate to let air in and it releases smoothly. Don't yank it hard.

  • A light rub with baking soda paste removes most marks. As long as there are no cracks or tears, you can keep using it.
